He has extensive experience as in-house counsel for Wärtsilä Corporation, a stock listed international company. This work has given Ralf Lindbäck considerable involvement in structuring international transactions, including long-term services agreements. Working with foreign administrations and global clients has further broadened his understanding of different legal systems, while also enhancing his reputation and track record in international dispute prevention and resolution. Ralf Lindbäck’s curriculum includes postgraduate studies in maritime law as well as North Sea oil and gas law (University of Oslo, Norway), management (IMD, Switzerland) and international dispute resolution (University of Geneva, Switzerland). He is a regular speaker at conferences and an internationally qualified/accredited mediator (IMI, CEDR, CIArb and SCCM). Ralf Lindbäck is a member of ICC’s Commission on Arbitration and ADR and works with ICC in its Task Forces on alternative dispute resolution introducing, amongst others, recommendations how to enhance early resolution to avoid escalation of multi-party conflicts related to international transactions, sustainability, and climate change. International recognitions of his merits include Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Award - Europe (2018). Ralf Lindbäck is a Board Member of Woima Corporation, Finland. Mediation style: Profound preparation for the mediation is necessary to identify past, present, and future aspects that are or may become essential to resolve issues in dispute between the parties. Ralf Lindbäck is open to case specific process suggestions form the parties, however, if the case or situation calls for it, he is procedurally directive. He uses private meetings and shuttle between the parties to develop the conditions that will enable them to return to and resolve their disputes in joint sessions.
