Advanced Practice Online Training Module (10 CPD hours)
(Module 3 of the CSMC-R & CCIG Program offered by TOOLKIT COMPANY, NL)

This is an intense advanced 2-day online training for mediators seeking to gain practical experience in commercial mediation, including challenging situations, breaking through deadlocks and impasse, and dealing with dilemmas and strategic choices.  It is available at a discounted rate for all CSMC-R/SKWM members.  It includes intervision and co-mediation training sessions, based on a three-party commercial dispute conducted online (via ZOOM).  It qualifies for 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours in total. It includes preparation for a performance-based assessment to become an International Mediation Institute (IMI) Qualified or Certified mediator.

For whom: The module is designed for experienced commercial mediators who want to receive structured feedback and benefit from intervision sessions.  It is also designed to help mediators seeking IMI professional certification training or SKWM/CSMC CPD hours.  Participants will be invited to reflect on their personal styles and approaches to commercial mediation and gain additional practice under the guidance of an international team of experienced commercial mediation trainers, organised by Toolkit Company in the Netherlands.  All sessions will be in English.  This course is the third and final module that forms part of Toolkit Company’s 120 hour program organised by it for CSMC-R and CCIG members wishing become accredited CSMC/SKWM commercial mediators.  It is not necessary to have attended the previous two modules to join this module.

Methodology: The program includes:

  • Individual intake sessions with the parties
  • Live mediation sessions (in joint sessions and in caucuses)
  • Debriefing with the parties
  • Debriefing from the trainers and observers
  • Primary focus: co-mediation, opening, exploration and option-generation phases, as well as final closing phase (using appropriate reality-testing. Bracketing and other closing techniques.)  Mediators may also work on their own if they prefer not to work with a co-mediator.
  • A presentation of TOOLKIT’s structured 5-step intervision method, which students can then use and apply on their own, to create their own intervision groups.
  • Participants may also discuss and obtain intervision feedback on a case currently being handled by them outside of this program.
